Last weekend I was heading back from the Saturday donut run and ran across a sign that said "Storage Sale". I figured, "Why not?"
Can I tell you this lady had some amazing stuff stashed away in the storage garage? It was a good thing I didn't have much cash on me!
This little treasure caught my eye right away. While I was looking at it, the seller walked over and told me it was $1. A buck? SOLD!
It started out a bit rough with a lot of grime and tape that looked like it had been on there for a decade. I think the idea was to hold the glass still while it was being stored.
I didn't even know it had a hinged top until I got home and was showing my great deal off to my husband. Double score! I have been loving terrariums FOR.EV.ER and just couldn't ever hack up the money.
I peeled off as much of the tape as I could but it just shredded everywhere. That's when I broke out the razor blade.
My other weapons of choice were my trustee Shaklee Basic H Degreaser and Window cleaners. I love this stuff! It works as well as other cleaners that I've used but is cheap, cheap, cheap! Plus, they are totally safe to use around a house full of crazy, mouth and hands on everything kids.
Look at the grime that started coming off once I sprayed the whole thing down with the Degreaser. Ewe!
And tada! Look at how clean and pretty she looks. For now, I just stuck my little African Violet in it but I think I can do so much with it!
When I actually get around to pulling out my fall decor, this might just need to be part of it.
For now, it gets a starring spot in my living room since I'm just a wee bit proud of my new find. :)
I'm off to do more crafting this weekend, I hope. That is if my kids, husband, and job allow.
It just might be a bit of a challenge.
